Get back into shape!

Have you been less than productive lately? The holidays will do that to ya!
You might feel as though you can't practice at all for some reason, and you keep getting side tracked with the world. To get back into the swing of things, start by practicing in short burst; 15-30 minutes here and there. Don't over do it. But make sure you're practicing the MOST important things. Whether that be your scales, etudes, octaves etc. Try not to practice the easy things, the ones you can play in your sleep, those won't help you improve. Practice the boring/hard things.
You got this!

Jury season is here!

Have you feeling more than overwhelmed over the past few days, weeks, months?
You, my friend, have jury fever.
You're probably sitting in a practice room wondering "Why do I sound so bad?" The truth is, you don't. You're going to be okay. You're under a lot of stress and it is perfectly normal to have breakdown. But DO NOT tell yourself you're not good enough. DO NOT tell yourself to give up. You are doing this for a reason because you love what you're doing. You love making music. You just lost yourself is a sea of stress.
Put your instrument down, look in the mirror and tell yourself, "You CAN do this."
